Simon McCormack- Faces of Launceston 2024 exhibition

In our latest exploration of Launceston's diverse tapestry, "Faces of Launceston" delves into the subtle yet profound moments that unfold in the everyday lives of our city's inhabitants. This project captures the essence of people going about their business without seeking attention, shedding light on the authentic, unsung heroes who contribute silently to the heartbeat of our community.

Over the past thirty  years, "Faces of Launceston" has evolved into a testament to the individual charm, life, and character that define our city. With over 700 black and white environmental portraits, we have celebrated the diversity of Launceston's citizens, recognising the extraordinary within the seemingly ordinary.

This exhibition focuses on those who may not have been seeking  headlines but  who play crucial roles in shaping the depth of our city's identity. From the medical professionals doing life saving work  to artists and artisans and people who have dedicated their lives to the community , we aim to showcase the beauty  and the significance of each person's unique narrative.

"Faces of Launceston" not only captures the diversity of our city but also serves as a mirror reflecting the shared experiences and stories that connect us all. Through the lens, we freeze-frame the genuine warmth, friendliness, and resilience that make Launceston the remarkable place it is.

As we present this collection, we invite you to join us in appreciating the unscripted moments of Launceston's life. These are the faces that define our city—faces etched with determination, joy, and the quiet strength that binds a community together.

We invite you to be a part of this ongoing journey, celebrating the unsung faces that collectively shape the narrative of Launceston. "Faces of Launceston" is not just an exhibition; it is a living, breathing tribute to the people who make our city truly special.

Join us in capturing the stories that unfold in the simplicity of everyday life.
