Bruny Island
I have just returned home from a fabulous few days away on Bruny Island. Each year, a few of us get together to catch up on old friendships, eat good food and drink fine wines and whisky, and talk about photography. We have known each other for over 30 years, and met via our involvement in the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. Within our group, there are Fellows, Honorary Fellows, past presidents, Grand Masters and over 250 years worth of experience, so when I tell you that the highlight of the weekend is the print swap, you know that there are some seriously good images on show, and being involved is not for the faint hearted.
At some stage over the 4 days that we are there, when we have caught up on each others lives and careers, when we have sat around the campfire, and tried a few whiskies, and feel like its time, we each take turns in presenting an image. We talk about the how, when and where that the image was taken, our thoughts and intentions, and anything else that we think the group might be interested. Over the next couple of days each person will present 5 or 6 images, and at the end we put all 6 out on the table and the rest of the group gets to choose the one that like the best for their own collection.
In the end we each go home with 5 or 6 exhibition quality prints( depending soon how many people came to the weekend ) from some of Australia’s finest photographers.
These were the images that I showed, taken during our visit to England and Scotland last year.
Also , if you would like to see the images that I swapped these for I’d be happy to show you the prints, you will need to book a time, and bring a good bottle of red, and we can talk about the pictures!
