5 STEPS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

Time moves on, kids leave home, parents grow old, and pets live their lives 7 times faster than we do.

Portraits are much more than just a record of how you and your family look. They form an important and valuable part of your family’s ongoing history. In years to come, your children and grand children will use these images to define where they have come from, and the images will become cherished and important items of your family’s story.

We know that finding time to organise everyone for a photo shoot is difficult. Justifying the expense, knowing what to ask for or what is possible makes people anxious, and often people are worried that somehow they will be tricked or forced into buying something that they don’t want, or can’t afford. We want this will be a pleasurable experience for your whole family.  We will guide you every step of the way, and answer all your questions before you even decide to book a photography session.

At the end of it this process, you will be the envy of everyone who visits your home, and have a beautiful set of images that will fill your home, with the warmth, love and laughter of your family.

Step 1: Contact

Use the contact button, send us an email or even give us a call on the phone! We would love to hear from you and to hear what you have in mind for your family portraits.

Step 2: Visit

All families are unique, so we like to organise a time when we can sit down in the studio and really discuss your portrait session in detail. What to wear, locations, time of day and a whole heap of other things! This session will also give us a chance to find out a little bit about each other. We will show you all the different options that we offer for displaying your images and discuss if you were thinking about something small and intimate for your bedside table, or something that would be the centre of you interest in your family room. We want you to know about all the different options and materials that we can produce your portraits with, and we want you to have a clear understanding of what each of those options will cost and the payment plans that we offer.
At the end of the day, no one like surprises and we want to ensure that everyone has all the information, right from the start. For this reason, we ask that all decision makers come to this initial meeting, so that we are all on the same page, right from the start.

Step 3: Shoot

This is the fun part! The shoot itself is a relaxed affair, with plenty of time for people to get comfortable and for the kids to feel like they are having a fun time. I like to photograph everyone individually first so that I get a bit of one-on-one time with each person. This way when we come together as a group, I have a little bit of an understanding of what makes people tick! There are no rules, and in order to get real honest portraits that show your true character, you need time and space to be yourselves, and you need to feel like you can show some of that personality to me and my camera. I have been doing this for a long time, and can usually get past the “camera face” to show something of the real person behind.

Step 4: Choose

This is the hard bit, choosing the pictures that you love, and that are going to fill your home and your heart. We can show you some suggestions of how those images would work well together for the space you would like to display them in.
This is a creative process that we will work out together, and at the end of the session, we will have the perfect portrait solution for your family.
Most people end up with a bit of a mix, something for the wall, and some prints or acrylics for bedside tables, office desks and as presents for family and friends. At the end of the day, it is always your choice, and the final decision is always yours.

Step 5: Success!

Good things take time and it usually takes 4-5 weeks to get your order printed and framed. We will call you as soon as it is ready to pick up so that you can get them up on your walls.

Once you are a past client of Kuruvita Photography, you  never have to pay portrait session fees again, no matter how many times you have your family photographed! It's just a matter of booking in a session or setting up a regular schedule so that we can remind you when its time for your next shoot
