Buddha Thai Restaurant

Operating in it’s current form since April 2012, Buddha Thai has gathered a following of  regular customers who appreciate the efforts that partners Jack and Goff put into providing the freshest, authentic Thai cuisine, and the best coffee possible.

With a friendship that goes right back to Thailand and their days at university, Jack and Goff followed careers that took them to either side of the restaurant trade. Jack into the kitchen, learning to cook in restaurants in Sydney, while Goff went into front of house, restaurant management and the art of making coffee.  Goff was first to come to Australia and he encouraged Jack to join him, first in Sydney and then finally, their search for a viable restaurant led them to Launceston where they took over the café that they are in today.

Open early, there is a steady stream of coffee connoisseurs who start their day with one of Goff's caffeine creations. The restaurant has developed their own mix of beans that ensures that the coffee here has a unique flavour and  is unlike anything else that you can get in the area.

For Jack, the initial concerns about the availability of the freshest ingredients and the consistent supply of the right seafood, were soon calmed and his philosophy to let the food do the talking means that he combines the authentic flavours of home, with the best that the Tasmanian producers can provide. This  has resulted in a winning combination, and the restaurant has grown in popularity with customers who either sit in or order take away to enjoy at home.

There are many Thai nationals who eat at this restaurant and serving food that is not authentic would not be an option. Jack says his grandmother would be proud of the food that he produces for his customers, although, he says with a grin, she would add just a bit more chilli !
