Waji Food

Arriving in Australia as an 8 year old from his native Bangladesh, Waji Spiby grew up in Melbourne and following his childhood passion, got a job in the kitchen at the children’s hospital. Time in a little French restaurant was followed by a job in banquets at the Grand Hyatt Hotel with a Chinese sous chef before being lured overseas. In the ensuing years, Waji travelled the world in search of flavour combinations that excite and inspire him.

With a cuisine that spans many of the regions of the world, you will find a fine blend of French, Mediterranean and Asian influences all wrapped up in an Australian context, with the two basic tenants of freshness and flavour always close to the surface. Waji’s search for the perfect sauce will never be over, but along the way there is always something to surprise and delight the tastebuds.

A 6 metre, fully self powered mobile kitchen, backed up by an impressive commercial kitchen means that he can cater for any situation. A romantic dinner for two on an isolated beach, an elegant lunch for the members of the Board or a function for 800 are all in his repertoire.

If you are planning a wedding in a remote location, birthday parties or weekend escapes, a barbecue with a difference or a cocktail party that will be remembered for the food, Waji prides himself on being able to produce restaurant quality food, for as many people as is needed, at any location you can think of. The bigger the challenges, the happier he is!
