Room For A Pony

Room for a Pony was opened by Drew and Mendel in the middle of the North Hobart restaurant strip in 2014 in a building that had started life as an Ampol service station. Christian Allen, formally of Knopwoods, together with Daniel Price, heads up the kitchen, with Drew and Mendel running front of house. Their staff are dedicated workers and their genuine concern for the business and its customers is evident.

Offering an all day breakfast and lunch menu running from 7am-3 pm each day, the menu is constantly changing to suit the seasons and is often influenced by asian flavours, case in point is Christian’s famous Five Spice Chinese Chicken wings.

With an emphasis on fresh produce, tasty food and local wines and beers, Drew is proud to acknowledge that they get their fresh vegetables from local suppliers, including the Lansdowne Cresent Primary School garden.

Recently they opened a bar at the rear of the venue with a drinking deck outside which is bathed in sun all day. Sunday afternoon sessions with live music starting at 4pm, flow into the dinner menu which has been inspired by the gastro pub movement matching delicately cooked meats with a variety of sides and matched with an enviable wine list.

At any time of the day, there is always friendly chatter around the coffee machine between staff and their many regular customers which gives the place a comfortable, friendly vibe.
