Hejo's Chinese Restaurant

Inspired by the abundance of Tasmania’s natural ingredients, Master Chef Fei He produces a series of unique, delicate dishes from a wide range of organic vegetables locally sourced meats and fresh seafood.

Chef He, better known around Hobart as Tony and his wife Zou (Jo) are both from restaurant owning families in the Fujian province of China who came to Tasmania to study in 2006 and 2008 respectively. Their paths eventually led them to opening Hejo’s in Elizabeth Street in 2011, proudly naming the restaurant after both of their family names, “He” and “Zou”(Jo). 

Their traditional Chinese cuisine is integrated with local flavours and inspired by the chef’s creativity and innovation. The restaurant has gained a name for itself based in some part on the popularity of Tony’s signature dish, Sichuan Fried Chicken in Chilli Pot, a wonderful combination of marinated chicken, beansprouts and chillies in a spicy, crunchy aromatic dish that will take you on a culinary journey.
