Tasmanian Food & Wine Conservatory

The Tasmanian Food & Wine Conservatory is a restaurant and providore, showcasing one hundred percent Tasmanian produce from all corners of the state. A family owned business, mother and daughter duo Vonda and Brielle Mason are passionate about good, honest food that can be traced back to its origins.

The menu changes daily according to the fresh, seasonal, local produce available. One can enjoy a Tasmanian Gourmet platter, abundant with fresh delicacies including seafood, meat, cheese, pickles, preserves, artisan bread and crackers. The knowledgeable staff can tell you exactly where every tasty morsel is sourced from, and help you select the perfect Tasmanian wine to accompany the fare.

Become blissfully lost in the providore; a labyrinth of Tasmanian goodies ranging from books and teas to beers, ciders, whiskies, cheeses and more. The wine selection is vast, with upwards of 150 Tasmanian wines on offer.

In the warm season a monthly garden market is held on the Conservatory grounds, where you can peruse a fantastic array of wine, spirits, cheese, chocolate, honey, oil, preserves and crafts. Chat to the producers about how their products are made before reclining on a picnic blanket on the lawn to enjoy the live music.

On special occasions the ‘Container Cocktail Lounge’ will throw open it’s doors. This converted shipping container has been repurposed as a 1940’s style lounge bar, offering a sensational array of Tasmanian whisky and gin. The cozy surroundings beckon you to snuggle into a chesterfield with your tipple of fancy.

For the gin enthusiasts, mark the first weekend in April in your calendar. The Conservatory holds an annual ‘Tasmanian Gin Fair’ in the garden, celebrating the recent gin explosion that has catapulted Tasmanian spirits to a worldwide audience. Taste every Tasmanian gin side by side, chat to the distillers and learn about the botanicals endemic to Tasmania.

Keep an eye out for special events; themed long table dinners are often held here such as their ‘Autumn Feast’ and ‘Christmas in July’. If the elegant charm of this building has you captivated, picture yourself getting married here. The Conservatory offers uniquely personalised weddings, professionally styled and tailored to each client.

The Conservatory is open from Tuesday to Sunday for breakfast and lunch, cake and coffee, wine and cheese or a refreshing G&T.
