Stanley Hotel

Tracing their roots to Stanley in North West Tasmania back through six generations of farmers and seafarers, Julian and Tracey Jacobs vision was to restore the 1830 Stanley Hotel to its former glory and create a country style destination experience in an inspiring landscape.

Sixteen years on and they have achieved their vision. Today, the pub is the hub of the town offering a range of fine accommodation, and, with help from their talented chefs, and influenced by Tasmania’s temperate climate and four distinct seasons they offer a varied and seasonal menu with the freshest of ingredients that showcases the best that Tasmania has to offer.

The Jacobs' are aided by many local suppliers;  like Robert Smith who grows the seasonal varieties of potatoes on his farm above the town and delivers fresh potatoes to the restaurant daily; Matt Morgan, part of the resident fishing fleet that works out of the tiny harbour in Stanley provide fresh lobster and seafood; the Cape Grimm beef company who’s cattle graze on the pastures that surround the town. Local free range chicken, vegetables, cheese, honey and fruit means that the Stanley Hotel is able to craft a simple and uncomplicated seasonal menu and daily specials that capture the very essence of the area.

This country pub has a comprehensive wine list featuring Tasmanian wines, craft beer and Tasmanian whiskies and gins, you can visit the historic cellars and stay in the cosy and comfortable accommodation and on a Friday night you can join the locals for the chook raffle in the bar. A big collection of old photos of Stanley on the walls complete the picture.

The friendly staff are committed to creating a welcoming and charming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike and the Bistro and outdoor deck are perfectly positioned to take in the spectacular views of the bay, rolling green hills and the amazing sunsets. A perfect way to end the day. You know it's good when the locals poke fun at each other about having to pay for their own produce.
