The new wonderland that is Reliquaire has risen out of the ashes of the Christmas eve fire that destroyed the original 1870’s hotel that had been the home of the business for 21 years.

Local Tasmanians and ex-maths/science teachers, Kim and Sylvia Christie had gradually restored the original building, and this well known family business in Latrobe has been delighting generations of children and adults alike with it’s eclectic collection of beautiful things. From dolls and teddies, Venetian masks and puppets, to games and statues, the shop is divided into themed areas, so whether it is dinosaurs and medieval castles or Alice in Wonderland and fairies that you are after, there is literally something for everyone.

The fire, in 2015 completely gutted the building and now, after nearly two years in a temporary location (their family home), Kim and Sylvia have rebuilt on the original site and, joined by their daughters, are bringing back the unique shopping experience and magic that Reliquaire is known for.

The experience of wandering through this magical place is not complete without a taste of their home made fudge, which they have been making since the shop first opened in 1995, and the coffee shop area offers you the chance to sit down with a great coffee, glass of Tasmanian wine or a tasty home made snack before continuing your search for the perfect treasure to take home.
