The Beehive - Honey Tasmania

Did you know that bees that travel to a clover flower will produce honey that tastes distinctly different from those that gather nectar from the manuka flower?

A visit to The Beehive, Honey Tasmania’s flagship store, will teach you all of this and more, allowing you to taste the uniquely different varieties of pure honey made by their happy and industrious bees.

Tristan and Rebecca Campbell, and their two children, are the family behind Honey Tasmania. Drawn to Tasmania’s clean, green environment and lifestyle, they moved down south in 2000, hoping to build on their lifelong passion and appreciation for the intricacies of nature. From one hive and their first taste of leatherwood honey, the family’s dream has grown to become a multi-faceted business, with hundreds of beehives.

After a number of retail premises around the Tamar Valley, a stall at an award-winning farmers market, and an abundance of commercially sold honeys and honeybee products, Tristan and Rebecca looked to the next challenge – a retail store, bee centre and all-round honey experience in the form of The Beehive.

With numerous pure, floral, varietal and flavoured raw honeys, a collection of honey alcohols, as well as honeybee products, pure beeswax candles and honey beauty products, The Beehive is guaranteed to have something to tickle your fancy. If you are after a more educational experience, head beekeeper Tristan also offers tours through the bee-friendly gardens, discussions in front of live beehives and scheduled tours of the honey extraction factory.

When it comes to the bees, their hives and everything in between, Tristan and Rebecca treat every aspect with the utmost care and respect, resulting in products that proudly reflect the honeybee and unique Tasmanian terroir. As such, each product carries a strong sense of place, just like the wines of the neighbouring Tamar Valley. The immense amount of love that they have for both their bees and the beautiful Tasmanian landscapes that they call home, is strongly reflected in The Beehive, ready for you to share with them.
