Get Shucked Oyster Bar

Established some ten years ago as an oyster farm, Get Shucked has evolved from a caravan selling mouth-watering oysters to passing tourists and locals, into a seriously wonderful oyster bar overlooking the pristine waters of Bruny Island.

Suzanne and Lee Macefield left the hectic life of Byron Bay to raise their children in a quieter and calmer world. A love of food and knowing its providence has always shaped their thinking. This, coupled with a strong desire to keep a well-established business local, prompted them to purchase the business 12 months ago.

Their philosophy is a simple one that they are sure is shared by most people. Good produce that you can be proud to offer to complete strangers, knowing that once they have tasted it they are strangers no longer. Ensuring that you are surrounded by equally passionate staff who enjoy the gift of giving and having a product that is reflective of clean water and a sustainable farming ethic.

On any day, David Roser their talented farmer, can be seen out on the water gently lifting their oysters from their deep-water lines. A mere 200 metres separates the farm from the table. The difference between harvest and eating can be measured in hours not days and this is the uniqueness of their product.

Their oysters are served naked or cooked and they offer quality Tasmanian wines, beers and ciders to accompany them. The view is completely free.
