Tall Timbers

Located in Smithton, on the far North West coast of Tasmania, Tall Timbers makes the ideal base from which to explore the many natural wonders of this region. Within an easy drive of this four-star rated complex is the Tarkine, Australia’s largest temperate rainforest area, with a multitude of walks to suit every level of fitness.

Cape Grim, where the CSIRO’s baseline air pollution station records the cleanest air on the planet, to hidden wonders like the Trowatta Arch, a unique formation of rock, formed around two sinkholes and surrounded by rainforest and huge man ferns. You can visit these places yourself, or join a 4WD adventure tour, or even get an aerial perspective with a helicopter flight over the area.

The complex has a variety of accommodation options including family units and lakeside apartments. Within the 40 acre grounds you will find an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, barbecue facilities and abundant wildlife.

Tall Timbers Kauri Bistro offers a range of different dining options including the newly appointed Cape Grim Grill, which offers an extensive selection of fine local and Tasmanian produce and features the world renowned grass-fed Cape Grim beef, which is farmed just a few kilometres from the property.

After a day of exploring, come back and relax in front of a roaring fire with a fine wine or one of Tasmania’s boutique whiskies or gins and savour the best the North West Coast has to offer.
