trevallyn grocer

The Trevallyn Grocer was established in 2006 by Marcus Douglas and his partner Jo McBain. It was born out of a wish to have a store that was a purveyor of fine food items produced locally, in Australia and from overseas. Many hours were spent strolling through delicatessens and markets in Melbourne and Sydney for inspiration.

Trevallyn is a wonderful older suburb, nestled against the magnificent Cataract Gorge and its bushland surrounds, with amazing views across the Tamar River. The Trevallyn Grocer is only a three-minute drive from the Launceston CBD and is conveniently located across the old Gorge Bridge en route to the Cataract Gorge grounds and Trevallyn Recreation area.

The Grocer has an in-house delicatessen supplying local smallgoods, local and imported cheese and fresh seasonal produce, such as plump Tasmanian scallops and Tassal and Huon Atlantic salmon. Fruit and vegetables are restocked daily, the meat cabinet is filled with produce from local suppliers and butchers, and the dairy case showcases some of the best local milk, yoghurts and cheese.

An extensive range of Tasmanian wines, ciders and beers are also stocked here. Herbies spices, organic lines and their gluten free range are other items that make the Trevallyn Grocer an exciting place to shop.

The Trevallyn Grocer is a convenient place to stock up for picnics, for tourists staying in self contained apartments, and locals who want something the bigger supermarkets don’t offer.

And if you sampled something on your trip around Tassie and wished you had more to take home, there is a good chance they have it here or can get it for you.
