the mill providore and gallery

The Mill Providore and Gallery showcases Tasmania’s fine foods, art works and Tasmanian handcrafted gifts.

The Mill Providore and Gallery is located on the top two floors of an historic 1830’s flour mill on the banks of the picturesque Tamar River, above Launceston’s acclaimed Stillwater River Cafe, Restaurant & Wine Bar, near King’s Bridge - the beginning of the scenic walk to Launceston’s iconic Cataract Gorge.

On the first floor above the restaurant you’ll find a wide variety of mouth-watering local produce in the delicatessen featuring artisan cheeses, smallgoods and Tasmanian seafood. The Mill showcases the best of Tasmanian producers including jams and preserves, relishes, olive oils, nuts, locally roasted coffee, culinary lavender, local spices, honey and hand-made chocolate and fudge. A quality selection of Tamar valley wines, craft beers and ciders is also on offer.

The Mill is the perfect place for gifts, especially handmade arts and crafts – including jewellery, pottery, ceramics, textiles and hand-made knits. Also featured is a wide selection of wood design utilising Tasmania’s unique timbers crafted by local artisans – including sassafras, Huon pine, myrtle and blackwood. The Mill is the perfect place to find a unique gift, or something special for yourself.

Upstairs the contemporary art gallery features Tasmanian artists with new exhibitions every month. The gallery presents works in a range of mediums from paintings, drawings and photography to sculpture, textiles and furniture design.
