Drift Café Restaurant

Drift Café restaurant + Drift-Away takeaway bar are located at ‘The Bluff’ beach in Devonport, with doors that open up straight onto the beach with epic views over Bass Strait.

This is a place of beachside casual, where wet board shorts and sandy feet are the norm. At Drift, there is a casual, fun atmosphere that is consistent across the entire dining experience. You have the choice between eating inside the cafe or you can enjoy alfresco dining on the deck. An even more casual option is to grab a burger, some fish n’ chips or soft shell tacos from the ‘Drift-Away’ takeaway bar, and plonk yourself down on one of the bean bags on the lawn to really immerse yourself in the beach atmosphere.

The owner and staff have a strong connection to the area and to the beach lifestyle, and believe that the location is the key element in forming the character and identity of the restaurant. This vibe comes through in their interactions with their customers, each other and the food and drink that is served.

Drift has a menu that changes seasonally, much like the view. From the marbled grey skies and wild waters in winter to clear blue skies with a beach full of people in summer. The chefs take great pride in ensuring that seasonality and great produce inform the choices of what’s on the menu at any given time. They are passionate about creating a great food and drink experience for their customers that will work hand in hand with the location to create the perfect ambience.

Just outside the door to the restaurant are walking tracks which will take you up to the Bluff Lighthouse and lookout, and out to Don and Mersey Rivers respectively on either side. With walking tracks, swimming beaches and an awesome playground just outside, and sometimes even live music, the team at Drift makes it easy to settle in for the whole day.
