The Squibb family are third generation orchardists, and have been growing apples in Spreyton for over 70 years.  Brett & Linda Squibb took over the orchard in 2011, after working in the family business for 26 years. Apples are their main crop with varieties which include Gala, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, Fuji and Sundowner.  They also grow pears, cherries & quinces. They sell their produce locally and interstate, with Melbourne being their biggest market.

In 2005 Brett and Linda took over a 2 hectare vineyard at Wesley Vale. Named Blustery Banks in honour of the prevailing wind that blows most of the year, the vineyard was originally planted in 2002. Moving into grape production required Brett to undertake a 12 month course in viticulture at the local TAFE, and the challenge has been a rewarding one. With equal amounts of Chardonnay & Pinot Noir grapes planted, their first vintage in 2007 produced just 280 bottles of Pinot Noir. Since then, grape production has grown and they now have a range of wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Rose & Sparkling.  Blustery Banks wines are made by Rebecca Duffy from Holm Oak Vineyards in the Tamar Valley.

In 2013 they opened their cellar door shop at the Spreyton Orchard. Run by Linda, the shop sells a range of fresh produce as well as their wines and a selection of Tasmanian gourmet products.

While you are in the shop, you will see the original painting by local artist Tanya Mathews which has been used on their wine labels depicting a typical windy day in the vineyard.
