Cradle Mountain Hotel

Nestled within breathtaking alpine forest in the central highlands of Tasmania, Cradle Mountain Hotel offers you an inviting location to explore our pristine Tasmanian wilderness.  Tasmania’s picturesque World Heritage Area at Cradle Mountain will have you ready and raring to explore Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and the iconic Boat House at Dove Lake.

Get active in the clean mountain air and meet the friendly, furry locals – say hello to the echidnas, wombats and wallabies that roam free.

For a change of pace, you may also want to stay closer to home. Visit the Wilderness Gallery, open from 9am - 5pm daily, and take in the stunning landscape photography. The Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery is bursting with original sculptures, drawings, paintings and large installations throughout many of the rooms since it’s recent transformation. Take a remarkable journey to our wild places, seen through the eyes of Tasmanian artists and explore a little of the history and life of the region.

Rooms include the Thylacine experience, movie room, creative children’s room and perhaps even catch a glimpse of an artist in residence.

The rooms surround a landscaped alpine garden – filled with sculptures, glacier-polished boulders and planted with Tasmanian native flora. And while you are there, pay a visit to the gift shop for a free taste of delicious Tasmanian honey and browse the arts and crafts by local artisans.

After a day of hiking you’ll have worked up an appetite, the perfect opportunity to try the exciting dining experience unique to Cradle Mountain’s Altitude Restaurant: hot rock cooking. You will receive your meal cooking on a 360°C volcanic stone, a technique that sears in all the natural juices and nutrients and gives you delicious full flavoured and tender meals
