Stonesthrow Launceston

Stonesthrow Launceston is set on 20 acres of land with stunning views over the lake with rolling pastures and hills in the background. The property has a rural ambience but is only a 5 minute drive from the city of Launceston.

The property was taken over in 2014 by the Dornauf family who decided to give it a fresh spin and re-named it Stonesthrow Launceston. The family has a small dairy factory in Hillwood which produces award winning double cream, crème fraiche, butter and clotted cream. 
The Hillwood property also grows strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. With this passion for quality Tasmanian produced food, it was a natural progression to incorporate these products into a café restaurant.

Stonesthrow sources only the very best and freshest Tasmanian produce. The menu reflects the changing seasons and is committed to supporting local farmers and businesses.

The restaurant offers a delicious menu for breakfast and lunch with desserts to finish the dining experience. To complement the menu a selection of Tasmanian wines from surrounding vineyards are on offer.

The restaurant’s chef Marco, who is from Florence in Italy, has trained at some of the top restaurants in London. He has brought his passion and love of food to the café restaurant. Friday evening is authentic Italian Pizza Night and Saturday evening is fine dining. The café restaurant can also be booked for functions and weddings.

The café restaurant features floor to ceiling windows which maximises natural light. It offers a stylish, warm and intimate venue for your celebration. It is a beautiful function venue boasting vast grounds and gardens in which to host parties and weddings with a pontoon on the lake for ceremonies. Activities also include walking trails, fishing and canoeing. BBQ areas are available for hire and BBQ packs can be purchased from the restaurant.
