The best thing about my job is that I get to photograph some families over a long period of time. It is such a joy to see the beautiful babies turn into intelligent, capable young ladies

The QVMAG is now at maximum capacity for our opening event on the 13th November. The response has been amazing and unfortunately they are unable to take any more RSVP's. They have created a wait list for anyone who is actually in the exhibition, but if you are not able to join us on the night, I will be doing a floor talk on Sunday 15th at 11 am and it would be great if you can join us then. I will also be signing books so you can pick up a copy or two at the same time.

Roccamandolfi Isernia Italy
The highlight of our 6 weeks in Italy was staying a week with our friend Carmine in the hills of Isernia. South east of Rome at the bottom of the high mountains, this little hill town has been going since the 1100's. Steep cobble streets, and beautiful, friendly people made this a great way to start the trip and to see what the real Italy is like , without the hoards of tourists. In this town, we were the attraction and all sorts of people dropped by to Carmines house to say hello.

One of the oldest surviving buildings in Launceston, PatersonBarracks was built in 1828, and was described at the time as thevery best brick building in Van Diemen’s Land.
As a commissariat store, it was designed to house food and supplies for the militaryand government officials in the young settlement, as well as forthe free settlers and convicts. The building was used by the Tasmanian volunteer forces, andthe Launceston Volunteer Artillery Corps which used the buildingfrom 1860.
Today it is home to Launceston’s cadet units andthe 16th Field Battery of the Royal Australian Artillery, the oldestartillery unit in the Australian Army, and the longest continuallyserving unit in Australia.

Sitting at the confluence of three rivers, the North and South Esk and the Tamar, Launceston is the third oldest city in the Nation.
October 8th 2014 Total Luna eclipse. Like everyone else, I decided to take some pictures of the moon whilst it was in the shadow, causing it to appear red.
The image looked fine, and when I went downstairs to download the files, the poster that I had been printing was still on my desktop. Our new book Launceston a sense of Place has the iconic Launceston Post office clock tower on the cover and I decided to have a bit of a play on photoshop to see if I could make the picture of the moon a bit more interesting. The resulting image seemed to gather a lot of attention and praise, so we have released a web special print for anyone who would like to own their own copy of the image.
The print is available for a limited time as a 400X580 mm colour print with a 90mm white border, ready for framing. It has been signed, stamped and titled "Blood Moon, Launceston 8th October 2014"

Cradle Coast Pantry, the new book by Phil Kuruvita and John T Bailey is on it's way to
Tasmania, and is due in bookshops around the 16th October. Following on from the success of Tamar Valley Pantry which was published last year, this book looks at the amazing array of fine food producers that produce quality food in Tasmania's North West. Mouth watering recipes from one of Tasmania's most respected chefs John T Bailey and beautiful images by Tasmania's only Grand Master of Photography Philip Kuruvita means that this book will appeal to many different people. For the foodie in your life, for family and friends that live away from Tassie and as the perfect coffee table/kitchen book in your own home.

It is always nice to get new toys to play with! I think that is half the reason people want to be a photographer
we are trying to get the blog to talk to the other children in social media land so hang tight, you may get a couple versions of this until we get things sorted, but after that, we have got some great pictures to share with you.
It has taken quite a while to get this new page sorted, mainly because we changed our minds a couple of times about what we wanted and what we were trying to achieve with this site, but
In 2013 Philip retired from wedding photography after
over 25 years in the industry, to concentrate on family
portraiture and an ever increasing program of book
publishing.
However
1996 marks the half way point in this project to document some of the people and faces of Launceston.
It is a photographer’s way to say thank you to the people and the city that have accepted our family so readily with warmth and genuine friendship.
A quick time lapse movie from my Faces of Launceston photographic exhibition at the Academy Gallery, Inveresk
